Celebrating 15 Years of Success
Fifteen years ago, Mad Jack’s Asphalt and Concrete didn’t have an office, a crew, or even a single employee. It started at a dining room table with one person and a plan. Today, as a trusted asphalt and concrete contractor in Tennessee, we’re celebrating 15 years of growth, hard work, and long-term relationships with our clients.
How It Started: 2011 – 2014
Mad Jack’s began in 2011 with no employees, working off of a dining room table. Just one year later, in 2012, the business landed approval on 30 Ruby Tuesday sealcoating jobs, a big enough break through that allowed the owner, Kara, to leave her 9-to-5 job and join full time. By 2014, Mad Jack’s had self-performed its first concrete work with a crew of three people. That crew has since grown into three established full-time concrete crews.

Rooted In Tennessee since 2016
In 2016, Mad Jack’s relocated from Illinois to Tennessee in search of better opportunities. This was a move that also marked the beginning of a long-standing relationship with RFMA (Restaurant Facility Management Association). Since then, Mad Jack’s has attended the annual RFMA trade show every year, with the owner and employees serving on numerous committees. In addition, the team volunteers each fall at the RFMA Gives volunteer event. Every year, the association partners with a charitable shelter, kitchen, or nonprofit in the host city of their annual conference to provide extensive facility repairs, remodeling, and renovations using donated materials, funds, and member labor.

mad project milestones: 2018 – 2020
In 2018, Mad Jack’s completed a major project at the Love’s Travel Stop in Sparta, KY. There, the team replaced an entire truck stop driveway – 65,834 square feet of asphalt removal to concrete replacement.

Then, in 2020, Mad Jack’s completed its largest project to date, covering 138,803 square feet of asphalt removal and concrete replacement at the Love’s Travel Stop in Port Allen, Louisiana. Despite enduring a hurricane and two tropical depressions during the project timeline, the crew successfully completed the job. In fact, the team worked for six months straight to complete this major milestone project.

wbe certified since 2022
In 2022, Mad Jack’s became a certified Woman Business Enterprise (WBE). Specifically, owning, operating, and controlling a business 51% or more is how a company earns WBE certification, showing it’s led by one or more women. As a result, this helps women entrepreneurs access corporate supplier diversity programs, government contracts, and networking opportunities to scale their businesses.

A Fun Fact Behind The Name
Fun fact – people often ask where the name “Mad Jack’s” comes from. The owner actually named the company after her two children, Maddie and Jack — a name that holds special meaning and reminds her daily of what matters most. Maddie and Jack are now college-aged, and Mad Jack’s carries their legacy forward as it continues to grow.

15 Years And Counting
Fifteen years, thousands of completed projects, and countless lessons later, Mad Jack’s Asphalt and Concrete continues to operate the same way it started: showing up, doing the work right and building results that last. Overall, the company has grown from small beginnings as a paper company to a full self-performing operation: concrete, asphalt, sealcoating, and striping – all in-house. Likewise, the team has grown from zero employees to seven and counting. Mad Jack’s has come a long way from its humble beginning and it’s only just getting started.
